On a scale of one to fanon Bert McCracken, how much would Teen Wolf fandom hate me if I wrote the story where Derek’s mate is Scott but Scott is too wrapped up with Allison to notice and Stiles has always been in love with Scott so Derek and Stiles find each other and decide to use the other to forget about their feelings for Scott for awhile.
And Scott is happy for them, is the kicker.
I’m contemplating that it goes to a threesome place, but I’m still undecided.
All I want for my birthday next month are:
(a) A giant pumpkin cake roll that will take me a week to eat
(b) a fake dating story in which the couple fake dating discovers that they’d actually be in the middle of the worst relationship ever and very happily fall in love with other people
I think I’m gonna have to add a (c) and a (d) to this list:
(c) Mediacom internet working for a month straight, as fast as it is supposed to be, with no problems
(d) a story that explores what happens if mates/soulmates/etc really is a thing when the other half is really a bad person (i.e., serial killer fic + mates, preferably without pining)

I’ve come at the mate trope by kind of sidestepping it, but the idea of like, soulbonds with one of them being dangerous is fascinating.
And see, Stiles knows Derek is a bad person, has actually killed people, sometimes just because he could, and it’s not all because Peter is whispering in his ear about making people pay for what happened to their family.
But Derek is a part of him.

Oooh, the telepathy one is interesting…
So I was replying to a comment someone left on Scatter Shot, the story where Peter teaches Derek SEDUCE and ABILITY TO WITHSTAND TORTURE before the fire.
And the commenter said they felt Peter was very tragic.
And I was like, well they are all tragic figures, it could have been Derek who was in a coma with Peter and Laura left standing.
Aannnnnnd I bunnied myself.
Because Derek sloooooowly heals, like Peter. Bites Scott, like Peter.
Peter is better at winning Scott and Stiles over, bc he uses his words and asks for their help, someone is murdering people, murdered his niece, please. I didn’t bite you, but I can help you, Scott.
And Derek is intrigued. Scott is clever, but so is his friend.
And when Peter gets captured, the scene with Stiles in the parking garage goes a little differently.

“I can be very persuasive.” Derek says, hand at Stiles’ neck, grip warm and tight, fingers making little circles as he inches Stiles’ face closer to Peter’s laptop.
The boy snarks and he snarks back. It’s … nice. The boy eventually helps him.
“You’ve been so helpful, I’m feeling generous. Do you want the bite?” Derek says, taking the boy’s wrist in his hand, delicately.
“What?” the boy’s voice is flat.
“Wouldn’t you like to be Batman, some of the time, Stiles?” Derek says, leaning against Jenny’s car. Stiles stands straighter. “You can hear all sorts of things, if you focus enough. Scott was never supposed to leave you behind.” he smiles, then, letting his eyes go red before flickering back to his human eyes.
“You killed your sister. You bite Scott, attacked Lydia, killed all those people.” The boy is … angry.
The boy takes a quick breath, eyes fixed on where Derek has a soft grip on his wrist. Derek wants to taste the skin.
“Has anyone ever wronged you, Stiles, to the point of madness? So the only thing you can dream or see the red of their blood? Don’t presume to know my reasons.” Derek says.
The boy looks at him, level.
“He could share this with you, if you wanted.” Derek keeps going. The scent of cloves had clung to Scott, when Derek had bitten him, and at first Derek thought it was part of Scott’s natural scent. But it wasn’t, just ground in from Stiles, close as brothers.
“Or, I could do something else for you.” Derek lets his gaze flick down, linger on Stiles’ crotch. He licks his lips.
That startles the boy to attention.
“Wouldn’t that be weird, for an Alpha?” the boy is confused. And very interested, if the tenting happening is any indication.
He releases his hold on the boy’s wrist.
“Unbutton your shirt.”
The boy stares, mouth a little slack before flying up to work on the buttons, hands shaking a little. Pale skin is revealed, dark moles dotting the skin like blood on snow.
He latches his mouth at the boy’s neck, licking and sucking marks down his chest, his stomach. The boy trembles, gasps, leans into the touch.
The boy unbuckles his belt, shoves his pants and underwear down and Derek swallows the head, licks at the shaft.
The boy has found his voice by this point, begging, stringing words together haphazardly, all Please, Yes, More, Derek.
He works his mouth on the boy and it doesn’t take long for the boy to come in his mouth. He swallows most of it but saves some for when he slides up the boy’s body to kiss into his mouth, hand against the back of the boy’s head.
The boy is vicious, a delightful surprise. He licks at Derek’s tongue, bites what flesh he can, plasters his body against Derek’s, arms coming up so he can clutch at Derek’s shoulders.
The boy draws away, rests his forehead on Derek’s chest. “Do it. Bite me.” the boy exudes tiredness but his voice is steel.
Derek takes the wrist again, brings it to his mouth, licks at the pulse point. The boy is looking up, watching him.
“Do you know,” Derek pauses, licks again, “what a bite on the wrist means, Stiles? Not the neck, or the hip?”
Stiles’ eyebrows slant in thought. “No.”
“It means we would belong to each other.” Derek says, watching him back.
“Usually I’d want dinner and a movie first.” Stiles quips. Derek smiles beside himself.
“Do you want the bite here?” Derek lets his fangs drop. Stiles snaps his eyes to them, entranced almost.
Stiles blinks, takes a breath. “Yes.”
Derek sinks his fangs into delicate skin oh so gently and bites down through bone and muscle. His mouth fills with blood.
I think this stuff all counts as canon. That’s the stance I’m taking, anyway. Spoilers!

this makes me want, in my terrible heart of hearts, fic where Derek really is using Stiles. I feel like there’s a decent amount of ~miscommunication in fic where Stiles thinks Derek doesn’t really care, or Derek thinks Stiles doesn’t, or BOTH; and even some where Stiles is kind of like OKAY WOW GUY WITH A REALLY HOT BODY NOT DYING A VIRGIN PERF; but not much that I’ve seen where Derek is the one taking advantage of Stiles’s enthusiasm and inexperience, or where he goes after Stiles to get to Scott. And let’s be honest - Derek started biting every teenager with issues he could get his hands on. He might seem emotionally stunted, but in his own way? A bit of a predator.
I mean, the other part of this is Kate - it seems likely and also kinda canon that Kate fucked Derek up pretty good in the headbox, but that doesn’t mean he’s fucked up in the way where he’d never ever ever touch a sixteen year old the way she did him; it could just as easily go the other way around. I’m probably reading a bit much into a show that’s showing off its beefcake, but Derek knows he’s attractive. He knows the way the leather jackets and the henley shirts and the tight pants affect people. If he wanted to be invisible, he’d dress differently. He could get people to underestimate him, he could fade more into the background, but he doesn’t. He’s learned to use his body as a weapon, and not just physically.
Basically, like Ceej, sometimes I just want fic where Derek is the ACTUAL WORST.
I’m such a bad person for wanting this. I mean Derek’s already following Cult 101 with his betas…
Hmmm. Usually I don’t like this kind of thing because I think Peter is the perfect character to slot into the role of Actual Worst but then I remember that one time I wrote a four part series where Derek regularly consumed chunks of Stiles’ body. Wherein Derek did like Stiles but liked the taste of his flank steak more.
I guess what I’m saying is, I’d read it if it was well written and made me believe it? But I’d be emotionally twitchy while reading it.
